Because we were in Missouri for Shelley & Eric’s wedding for Wes’ birthday we had two celebrations. What a lucky kid! It was more his style, really. Wes can get overwhelmed by too much new. Too many new faces or too many new distractions in one area. He’s slow to warm up, just like his momma (well, maybe like both of his parents). When I sat down to draft a guest list for a big party here at home, the list was out of control for what I know about Wes. So we kept it two to small celebrations of just family and it turned out perfectly.
Isn’t that hat adorable? It’s from Etsy, of course.
We opened some gifts before our food arrived. Wes is an expert gift opener. That fire truck was a great distraction.
Wes and I shared a really tasty egg scramble. We both really liked it, although I was sad that because I shared with a baby that I couldn’t get my eggs super runny. Super runny eggs out will make an appearance in my life again at some point, I’m sure. But of course those vegetables were nothing compared to the deliciousness of cupcakes! We moved back to the hotel to get out our sugar high wiggles and open the rest of our presents.
Wes and I are both super excited about this music set!
Then on Halloween, my parents, sister, and niece came to visit us for a little party.
If you are looking for an easy, inexpensive way to dress up a young child’s birthday party, get yourself some balloons. Babies love balloons. And make sure you ask for hi-float (because depending on where you order they may not remind you that it’s an option, which I have experienced). We are still enjoying a few of our balloons a week later thanks to hi-float.
In this moment, Wes can not even believe this hat and tie are happening to him again. Can’t even believe it and can hardly handle it.
As pay back he decided he’d try lighting his finger on fire.
While the pictures don’t show lots of frosting all over his face, he loved this cupcake as much as the first. Best part of birthdays.
I guess a close second is being pantless. But that was my doing and I don’t really know what to say about this. We were in the comfort of our own home! Why not eat your birthday cupcake without pants? I don’t know. Wes went pantless for his second birthday celebration and that is that.
Papa and Nana got him the cutest bomber jacket!
Then we were all entertained by Wes and Evelyn’s antics/Wes wanting to be up in Evelyn’s face at all times. We decided that Evelyn will become the one that thinks up all the crazy stunts and it will be Wes that figures out how to make those crazy stunts happen.
Thanks everyone for celebrating Wes with us! And again happy birthday, sweet baby boy (even though you’re not a baby anymore!).
