We are on day 3 of our 6 day bike ride. Before setting out on our ride, we were shuttled to the town of Flavigny, where the movie Chocolat was filmed. Some people on our trip were unfamiliar, but we watched that movie at least half a dozen times in our family. It was yet another sleepy French town. They also make these delicious candies there, Les Anis de Flavigny, which I had kind of forgotten I had still and am now very happily eating.
This is the storefront of the chocolate shop in Chocolat. There probably was never any chocolate here.
This green car is the French version of a Volkswagen Beetle. I can’t figure out what it’s called.
Then we got on our bikes and went up a giant hill! I was so proud of myself for climbing it. Sean had already conquered some hills by this point, but this was my first big one. I didn’t have to stop and walk. I rode the whole thing. And Sean was with me the whole time. We did it together.
And the downhill was magic! Like we were flying. It was actually a little scary at a few points but so, so fun!
Still brown.
Lunch on the Canal de Bourgogne. And this is where our bike trip ended for today. Everyone said such amazing things about our next hotel, Abbaye de la Bussière, and we since we were only staying one night we wanted to explore. We were happy with our choice because there were so many nooks and crannies!
I didn’t even capture all that much of the nooks and crannies. You could explore this hotel for a whole day.
It was very romantic of Sean to row me around the lake. It’s important for you to know that he was very happy to have this job, despite his facial expressions both in this photo and the video.
Then next morning we headed toward wine country!
